The Hispanic Professional Pilots Association is invited to participate in the Hispanic Day event, at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum on September 19, 2009, celebrating the 100th Anniversary of public flying, with focus on Hispanic contributions to Aviation.
This is a wonderful opportunity to promote the Association and to educate the public on the contribution of Hispanics to aviation, from its early stages.
The association is planning to host public workshops during the event and a special tribute to Early Birds of Aviation like Alberto Santos Dumont, Jorge Chavez, Agustin Parla, Domingo Rosillo, Juan Pablo Aldaroso and notables like Don Lopez, Elwood Quezada, Luis de Florez, just to mention a few.
Everyone is invited to participate in the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum on September 19, 2009.

The president of the Hispanic Professional Pilots Association Carlos Meneses is interviewed in the Maria Elvira Lives show, on channel 23 Miami Spanish
‘s TV show.
The interview on June 8, 2009 debates the Air France flight #447 accident over the Atlantic ocean, following Airbus’s ( aircraft manufacturer) and Air France’s announcement over a possible failure of the AIRBUS-330 speed-sensor.
The interview discuss comments made by the head of France’s air-accident investigation agency Paul Louis Arslanian saying: “The sensors had not been replaced with the improved units”. At a briefing outside Paris Paul Louis Arslanian said: ” Unreliable data from speed sensors may have triggered a chain of events leading to the crash of Air France Flight 447 that killed 228 people”.

The Legacy of a Captain

During road show #2, in San Juan PR, September 5 2008. HPPA presented a special recognition to Captain Jose Rivera Bodon for a lifetime dedication to Aviation and special mentor ship skills, that touched and inspired several generations of pilots. El Capitan de Capitanes, received a copy of the book TROPICARGO, by Enzo Bravo (Rombie Acevedo), the author and member of HPPA’S Board of Directors.
Captain Jose Bodon logged more than 30,000 flying hours on his more than 45 years career for different Airlines and commuters in the Caribbean, retiring at the age of 70 years of age.
